Barbershop OWN is a project that looks at what a modern barbershop should look like from a different perspective. What if we abandon the stereotype imposed on such interior design?
We focus on removing all unnecessary details from the concept of traditional barber shop, creating a clean and simple interior space, and shifting the focus to the comfort of guests and staff.
Initially, the space consisted of an irregular room with two integral columns in the middle, an independent windowsill at the entrance, and a similar windowsill in the main room.
This configuration predetermines the internal zoning of the space. The prominent part of the room in the entrance area is filled with a single color; There is a closet for things and working equipment.
The leisure area in the form of plywood cube is located on the second ledge of the room, which determines the direction of movement along the work area and the reception desk to the bathroom.
The material selection method used in the project is also simple and direct - concrete, metal, 10/10cm tiles create a cold barbershop atmosphere, but combined with the dynamic texture of larch plywood, they form a balance between materials and feelings.
The main white wall with a "starter stucco" texture is the background of all the internal function blocks made of the above materials. The ceiling of the entire room remains almost unchanged - monolithic concrete, only the ceiling above the entrance area is lowered to accommodate the main ventilation unit.
The work area has 3 hair salons with 10/10 square centimeters of ceramic tile walls, which are embedded with mirrors - materials are introduced between them. These elements are combined by cantilever working surfaces made of stainless steel.
Another additional material is porous polycarbonate - the partition of the bathroom and staff room doors, as well as one side of the reception table, are made of it. The structure of the rack is 4mm brushed metal plate.
The reception area is triangular, curved around two columns in the center of the room, separating the public area from the work area. Cut an irregular shaped entrance from the wall of the work area, through which you can reach the bathroom and staff room.
The amusement park creates a sense of space in the space, and wraps the tourists with warm and solid wood. A swing in this area is suspended from the main ceiling, cutting its volume along the edge of the cube.
The large windows almost occupy the height of the whole room, illuminating the entire interior space. Artificial light plays a very important role in indoor environment. Each area has its own lighting, which is a functional element rather than an aesthetic element. The work area is completely lit by the light bulb and hangs over the chair in disorder. The reception area is illuminated by chandeliers that follow the shape of the bar and the sign of the barber shop. Neon signs and symbols can be used not only as navigation, but also as decorations in various areas of the space. The atmosphere, function and details play a key role in the whole interior architecture.
